Rubén Albés, former coach of Real Sporting de Gijón, is negotiating a First Division coaching job. The rojiblanco coach met with Martín Presa, president of Rayo Vallecano, to interview for the position left by Iñigo Pérez. Albés fits several of the parameters marked by the Vallecana sports direction as preferred, including his youth and his style of play, a priori continuist with the line followed by the club in recent years. The rojiblanco coach was a strong contender for First Division benches like Levante and for Second Division projects like Valladolid or Andorra, without any of them materializing. The stint abroad temporarily interrupted his career in national football, but it does not seem to have affected his position in the Spanish market. His last project took place in Umm Salal, where he arrived in February signing a contract until the end of the current season. A stage that closed with a relegation that was already very difficult to avoid upon his arrival, although the team improved its dynamics and was in a position to save itself until the last matchday of the championship, in which it depended on itself. A project in which he coincided with the also former rojiblanco Cristo González. Now, without a contract and with the intention of facing a new professional challenge, the coach will once again prioritize the sports project before deciding on any option, without ruling out that he may find a new destination abroad, although he starts strong in June with the interest of one of the main available benches at this stage of First Division. It is expected that throughout the week the final decision of Albés will be known.
